Service Description

Fierce Self Compassion, How Women Can Harness Kindness To Speak Up, Claim Their Power, And Thrive by Kristin Neff,, PH.D. will be the book selection for this summer series. We'll use the content of our reading selections for our inner and outer explorations. In each session we will explore the content of our reading through discussion and movement practices meant to guide and give meaning to the concepts. From the book: Although kindness and self-acceptance allow us to be with ourselves as we are, in all our glorious imperfection, the desire to alleviate suffering at the heart of this mindset isn't always gentle, sometimes it's fierce. We must also act courageously in order to protect ourselves from harm and injustice, say no to others so we can meet our own needs, and motivate necessary change in ourselves and society. Gender roles demand that women be soft and nurturing, not angry or powerful. But like yin and yang, the energies of fierce and tender self-compassion must be balanced for wholeness and wellbeing. Reading is not required to participate but is encouraged to gain the full benefit of this type of this process. June 10, July 8, Aug 12 5:30-7:30 Register now. Upon acceptance of registration, an email will follow with reading schedule and additional information.
