Winter Yin/Restore Series p.m.
It is a time of turning inward
Service Description
Slowly surrender to the meditative nature of Yin Yoga and its many benefits for balancing the energies that flow throughout the body. Slip into a deeply restorative rest to allow the practice to nourish and support your body, mind and heart fully. Yin and Yang are fundamental concepts representing the dualistic nature of life. Yin embodies qualities of darkness, coldness, and rest, while Yang embodies light, warmth, and activity. Winter is considered the most Yin of all seasons, characterized by stillness, darkness, and a slowing of energy. It is a time of turning inward and moving our bodies in a way that honors the nourishment and replenishment that this season can provide. We often resist or override this natural cycle of restoration characterized by stillness, darkness, and a slowing of energy with extra activities, celebrations, and the busyness of the holidays. That's why allowing your body time to rest and restore through this practice can be a gift that you give to yourself. Our practice guides us through postures that awaken these energies, bringing them into our consciousness. Yin postures are held longer, focusing less on form or anatomy and more on the overall energetic experience and energy flow within the form. While the practice can be challenging, the effort comes through surrendering to gravity, earth, and time in the pose. Physically, this practice nourishes the connective tissues that bind our entire physical body, hydrating, massaging and stimulating them to promote healthy tissue and nourishment through the channels that flow throughout our whole body.
