Service Description

Embodied Journaling- somatic processing through guided journaling and movement practices. Do you journal? Do you find yourself hearing about how helpful it can be in so many different ways, but feeling like it’s a daunting thing to start? Did you know that there is not just one way of journaling, or that the act of writing with a pen or pencil unlocks your brain in a different way than typing or speaking? Whether you are seasoned at journaling or have never done it, this class is for you. We will take a look at various types of journaling in each of our 4 biweekly sessions, and explore how writing and movement complement each other. We will introduce one “category” of journaling at each class, facilitate practical exercises to experience it, and lead you through accessible movement activities that foster embodied awareness and deepen the connection to the journaling process. Journaling categories include Narrative Journaling, Emotional Processing Journaling, Cognitive Reframing Journaling, and Creative/Somatic Journaling. Each week, participants will engage in guided movement activities that foster embodied awareness and deepen their connection to the specific journaling process. What to Bring: Notebook or Journal and writing element. Yoga Mat/Comfort items (chairs available) Dress comfortably for movement. Layers suggested for temperature fluctuations.
